About us

Aloha,

Our name is Mike and Cynthia Datanagan and are the owners of Mike & Cyn’s Family Bird Release. 

We started our company in November 2019 in anticipation of bringing an ease to the transition of losing your loved one at his/her memorial service or to bring you joy and amusement in the celebration of your wedding or grand opening of your company by releasing our birds at your event.

Last year, our uncle passed away after a long period of suffering and we decided to honor and pay tribute to him at his memorial services.  We brought our birds, played his favorite song (‘Tiny Bubbles’ by Don Ho) and released our birds. 

After seeing the doves released in the air and the single one following them while the music played on made us realize how this single dove embodies the person’s spirit and is flying freely with no signs of pain or suffering.  

This scene encouraged us to develop a business that may help anyone to cope with their grief in their most difficult time.

We have a team of 23 pigeons (also known as doves).  We have 16 whites and 7 non-white (blue,red/silver/grey) birds. 

We will bring our birds to your event in cages and release them when you instruct us to. 

For memorial services, we initially release a group of doves and then a single dove is released a few minutes later.  In doing so, this single dove signifies your loved one flying home to Rest In Peace. 

Families have informed us that this presentation brings closure in their hearts in seeing his/her spirit flying freely.

Our family business consists of Mike and I and our grandchildren Jayson and Kyrstin. 

They have assisted us with most of our events and are a tremendous help in getting the birds into the cages, setting up/breaking down the display table and driving us to the events if necessary.
